Abstrak ABSTRACT This study of senior high school physics educational policy implementation in Indonesia is related to an analysis of the effect of educational policy program especially related to physics education in senior high school. The aim of this study is to describe the causes of unsuccessful implementation of the present physics educational policy for senior high school, its implementation, and the recommendations to improve that policy. The focus of this study is the formulation of present physics educational policy. The data were collected through documentation, interview, and observation. The collected data were analyzed descriptively. The results of the study showed: firstly, the formulation of the policy-the syllabus of physics in senior high school was still not so good in content and evaluation components, physics textbooks were not suitable for under average students, and there was not any sufficient coordination relation between the senior high school physics educational development institutions. Secondly, the policy had not been implemented fully as in the formulation, such as lack of laboratory equipment and devices, physics textbooks were not used in instruction effectively, and institutions that aim to develop the senior high school physics education did not work effectively. Thirdly, the proposed recommendation to improve the implementation of the policy is that there should be a systemically networking between institutions that develop physics education in supporting senior high school physics educational policy implementation.
